June 8-9, 2007 - The Network of Iowa Christian Home Educators 15th Annual Home Educators' Conference, Des Moines, IA. Two workshops:
Workshop #1 “You Can Develop Your Own College Curriculum” – James Bartlett, Dan Smithwick, John Mesko, Zach Engelhart How exactly does one get started in developing a personal college curriculum? If you suspect that the academic, philosophical and spiritual benefits of home education may also apply to higher education, this workshop will confirm that idea and help you get started on developing your college curriculum. Biblical worldview measurement leader Dan Smithwick of the Nehemiah Institute, authentic agriculture author John Mesko of Lighthouse Farm, constitutional law student Zach Engelhart and engineer James Bartlett of the Biblical Concourse of Home Universities will present a few reasons why college learning should and can be accomplished in the home education mode with practical ideas and examples from the agriculture, constitutional law, and engineering professions. Time will also be reserved for your questions.
Workshop #2 “How to Decide between College Approaches” – James Bartlett, Scott & Joe Bailey, Dan Smithwick, John Mesko, Zach Engelhart Scott and Joe Bailey present the Biblical, logical, thorough, and numerical decision making process they used to rank seven college approaches and confirm the choice most consistent with their values and goals in mechanical engineering. This presentation will lead into a time of open panel discussion on the practical details and cultural need for Christians to pursue college level studies in the home education mode. Panel members will also include worldview measurement leader Dan Smithwick of the Nehemiah Institute, authentic agriculture author John Mesko of Lighthouse Farm, constitutional law student Zach Engelhart and engineer James Bartlett of the Biblical Concourse of Home Universities.
